I have practiced as a full time Neutral since 2013. I believe in making clear decisions in accordance with contract provisions based on the facts established by evidence. It is the utmost importance to choose an arbitrator who will understand the technical and commercial arguments in a case.
I am a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Between 2007 and 2015 I taught regularly as a faculty member for CIArb introduction courses. Between 2014 and 2019 I was a guest lecturer for the LLM (Construction Law) course offered by the British University in Dubai. I have spoken at conferences and master classes in both MENA and Asia Pacific regions. I am also accredited as an Adjudicator by AIAC. I sit as arbitrator by invitation in the prestigious annual Vis East Moot Competition held in Hong Kong with teams from over 100 of the world’s best universities and law schools. In 2016 I was presented with the Star Arbitrator Prize voted on by the students.
I have accepted party appointments and sole arbitrator roles as well as chair appointments. I am a panel member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), The Asia International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the Abu Dhabi Centre (ADCCAC), Hong Kong (HKIAC), Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI), the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) and the DIFC-LCIA Centre in Dubai.
Over a long career spanning 40 years in the legal services industry and international commerce, I have gained and earned experience of more than 200 arbitration cases as advocate, client representative and more recently as Arbitrator. I have had the privilege of conducting cases or representing clients in arbitrations in jurisdictions including England, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, United States, North Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
Recent work includes two construction arbitrations in Thailand and a franchise dispute in Dubai, UAE. In the past few years, I have also conducted arbitrations as Sole, Chair and party appointed Arbitrator in disputes concerning construction, property sale and purchase, employment, and partnerships/joint ventures.
